Stardate RV07222013

This is the day that EVERYONE showed up.  Last night, we had Alan, Christian and Erik in the tent and Claudia and I in the RV with the dog and cat.  Somewhere around an hour before we wanted to get up, the tent visitors came looking for breakfast.  I got up, walked Gizmo and then fed the non-human type animals.  After two cups of coffee, I was back to being alive.

The boys went on a bike ride while Claudia and I did necessary things like check email and straighten up the rig.  When the boys came back, we all jumped in the car and went up to buy some fins, a necessary part of boogie-boarding that somehow didn't make it to the beach.  Soon after we returned, Alisa, Erron and Brooke arrived.  We were now complete!

Some of us went to the beach.  The others?  I don’t know.  I was at the beach teaching the boys how to ride a surfboard.  Christian found out the hard way why you wear a shirt when boogie-boarding.  His chest is now adorned with pasties made of Band Aids!

We then all returned to the rig for a rousing one-sided game of Beanbag Baseball.

Claudia’s team, comprised of Brooke, Erik and Erron, beat the rest of us by a score of 8 to 3.  It was not pretty!

After the baseball game, we all headed to the picnic table for dinner.

Alisa made a meatloaf, Alan made his famous cheesy potatoes, Brooke cut the watermelon and Claudia fixed green beans and garlic bread.  I lit the bonfire and we finished off the dinner with fire-roasted “slugs”.  I showed the boys the proper way to wrap the skin around the slug sticks to form a perfect tube and pocket to hold the “guts”.

We had several varieties of slug guts to choose from.  We had apple, chocolate, butterscotch and key lime.

Each slug was topped with a head made of whipped cream.  They were delicious.

Claudia and Brooke bypassed the part about making skins and went right to gut packages.  THAT'S CHEATING!

The clouds were too thick for us to have any chance of seeing a green flash, but we were there anyway, watching the surfers catching the last waves of the day.  Somehow, I thing sleep will come early, soon and HARD!
