Stardate RV07202013

Ok, so what’s been going on?  More visitors!  Tom and Liz came back for a second round.  They again brought the three grandkids from Switzerland, but this time dragged MK (my sister) along with them.  MK also had friends here (Andrew, his wife and their three kidlets) from Arroyo Grande, and she dragged them along as well.  So, with my abacus in hand, I can safely determine that we had seven adults, six kids, one small dog and one large cat on premise for the day.  It was more of a “beaching” day for them all.  I had to leave for a meeting of my varmint hunting club in the late afternoon (I am the vice-president and my duties required it), so I missed the evening’s festivities.  However, the remnants of same were readily apparent in the firepit and trash bags when I got home.

On Sunday, I returned from a fishing charter in the early afternoon and was walking Gizmo when a man came hobbling over to our camp host site, bleeding profusely.  He had been out swimming and was struck by a stingray on the bottom of his right foot.  It was a good strike!  Anyway, Claudia grabbed one of our official Adventure Caravans aluminum camp chairs and brought it around the rig to the utilities bay where I had escorted our victim.  We sat him down and I grabbed the wash/storage/utility/whatever bucket.  He put his foot in the bucket and we filled it with very hot water, the approved first aid for a stingray strike to neutralize the venom.  I called the state radio dispatch center and they sent out Brooke, our resident ranger.  We had already done everything that could be done for him, so she filled out a first aid form and we sent him off to the hospital for some professional care.  We got an “attaboy” comment in the official campground register for a job well done.

We then had Alisa deliver two boys, Erron and Tanner, for a couple of days.  Luckily, they had their electronic games with them, as they couldn't find anything else to do around here.  We had bikes, the ocean, girls, skateboards, a surfboard, several boogie boards, a kite, walking trails, and so forth.  Nope, electronic games were all they could find to do.  Amazing!  Freakin’ amazing!  Kids!  The boys left on Thursday and it was once again quiet at the old homestead.

I had two early morning fishing charters on Thursday and Friday, getting home each day just in time to take a well-needed shower and go to “work”.  We just finished a three day “work” week and have four, quarto, IV days off in a row.  YOUZA!  This morning, I actually slept in until 8:30!  Tonight we are going out to dinner at the Huss house and then on to a Crosby, Stills and Nash concert.  Tomorrow, we are going to Alisa’s for Claudia’s birthday dinner.  Brooke, Alan and two of his brothers arrive for an undetermined stay on Monday, probably in the neighborhood of five days or so.

Retired life is great!  I recommend it to y’all.  Nothing but relaxing and doing exactly what you want to do, exactly when you want to do it.  RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
