Our first visitors have arriven!!!!! Tom, Liz, Max, Xav (Xavier) and Margaux
showed up on Monday for a three-day stay.
After unpacking the car,
they began prepping the kids for playtime at
the beach.
Planned festivities included
digging holes in the sand to bury a brother and/or break lifeguard vehicle
axles, surfing, boogie boarding, swimming and so forth.
After play time, the kids learned how to use the pay showers
here at the park. Dinner that evening
was carne asada burritos with guacamole, cilantro, salsa, onions, cheese and
other necessary items to enhance our taste buds to the “exceeded expectations”
mode. Dinner was accompanied by the very
finest “Chillable Red” box wine.
Tuesday was a bevy of basics…breakfast and cleanup and then
off to various stores to buy swim fins and other necessary supplies for the
kids. We also picked up two pizza’s for
lunch. The afternoon was surf and
sand. Dinner was a loin of yellowfin
tuna, barbecued corn and a magnificent salad followed by “slugs” and
marshmallows, roasted over the open firepit.
We also splurged by cracking a bottle of Charles Shaw White
Zinfandel. It couldn’t get much better.
Wednesday was a work day for us, so we were up at the crack
of dawn (6:00 am around here) and hit the road in our electric-powered patrol
vehicle.
We hung up the flags and cited
about a dozen or so scofflaws that tried to sneak into the park the previous night
without paying the required fee. They
soon found out they were dealing with the “A” Team. Tom, Liz and the kids were packing up when we
returned from patrol and we soon bid them adieu. They are picking up my sister Thursday
morning and will return again on Saturday for the day.
