All the
kids (and parents) are going home today.
Gizmo and Choka are already crying.
No more “skritches” and petting.
They are so used to the kids petting them, they will probably go into withdrawals.
While Claudia and I were “on patrol” last night, we ran
across a young man passing out flyers for a Grand Opening of an electric
bicycle company just down the road. We
made arrangements for an hour’s worth of riding this morning for all the kids. So…at 10:00 am, we all piled into the cars
and headed over to the shop.
All the
kids (and Corey) got fitted for bikes and helmets
and headed across the street
to the beach.
The next hour and a half was
spent riding up and down the hard-packed sand…no pedaling at all.
Just twist the throttle and away you go! You couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces
with sandpaper. They were having a ball! Even I got in on the action!
The hour-plus went too quickly and they all reluctantly
returned the bikes to the store and we all piled back into the vehicles and
returned to the park for lunch and packing up all the gear. I don’t know how, but they got it all into Alan’s
pickup, Alisa’s minivan and Corey’s truck.
Claudia and I and the animals are now back to “normal” and awaiting the
next batch of visitors and/or house guests.
